Our activity this month involved cleaning out our closets! We donated our used jeans to "From Blue to Green" to be made into insulation for homes. Our used tennis shoes we gave to Nike to be made into playground surfaces. Old cell phones were donated to "Cell Phones for Soldiers" and eyeglasses were given to the Lions Club. We also collected our cardboard to see how much our families throw out in a typical month. We gathered at Kill Creek Park and talked trash! We learned about how much trash is in Johnson County and why it is so important to do what we can to reduce the amount of waste we are producing.
Brian read the kids a story about recycling and the kids made bookmarks. It was a beautiful day and a great way to kick off the summer doing something great for Mother Earth!
